We have to design a magazine in editorial design this year. My magazine will be about sports. Next step is to design the cover so I’ve searched for different techniques on how to design a magazine cover and found this interesting article.

There are two goals: You want to attract the target groups attention and you have to express the content of the magazine.

To attract attention your magazine should look different from the others – lets say it should be unusual. You could centre the background, merge the image with the background, put transparent shapes over a photograph for looking special, try unusual arrays, experiment with type or use an interesting photography.

No matter what you do, your magazine should look different to the others.
