When we walked around the corner we suddenly saw a tiny mouse sitting on the bench in front of us. It should be normal because everybody knows that there are mouses in Austria. However we were really surprised. That made us think about it. Why are we surprised when we meet an animal like deers or mouses in a region where we are totally aware of their living there?

Target group

People who are interested in learning something about the nature. They should know that it is possible to meet animals in different regions on the world. Our target group are moreover children. Maybe between 8 and 20 years. We want to show the people that there are wild animals so that they think about them, protect them and aren’t afraid of facing them on a walk through the forest. They should see how they should react and know facts that they can save the nature.

Technology | Media

We want to have a room in which you have a big 3D projection all around yourself. In front of you is the main screen where you are walking through however you can go on the right or the left side too. You can choose a country on a map and see the vegetation there. Now you can walk through their landscape, the projection moves with your motion. When you walk through this landscape, maybe a forest or something else, you can meet animals. Now when you see an animal in front of you you can touch them, like this informations can be seen. There are informations on the population, on the animal, how you should react now and if the animal needs protection or how you could help them. It has a game effect because on the left top corner you have a little chart where you can see how much plants or animals in the nature you damage by walking through them. Maybe when you hit a plant or jump on an anthill. Like this you get minus points. However you can get plus points in the information you collect. With this information you get new levels, items and abilities. In the end of your walk you can print out a little certificate where you can see how „Green“ you are. How much do you care about nature? At the exit of the museum you can show this and you will get a little button for taking home which should remind you to mind the nature.

Advantage

It is much easier for children to recognize stuff when you had fun while you learned it. When it’s like a game and you have images they will remember it much easier. With our 3D room we want to help children to learn something on nature and to think about it next time when you are walking through it.

Scribble

Story When we met a mouse.
